Product Description:

Monel 400 is a nickel-copper alloy (about 67% Ni – 23% Cu) that is
resistant to sea water and steam at high temperatures as well as to
salt and caustic solutions. Alloy 400 is a solid solution alloy
that can only be hardened by cold working. This nickel alloy
exhibits characteristics like good corrosion resistance, good
weldability and high strength. A low corrosion rate in rapidly
flowing brackish or seawater combined with excellent resistance to
stress-corrosion cracking in most freshwaters, and its resistance
to a variety of corrosive conditions led to its wide use in marine
applications and other non-oxidizing chloride solutions. This
nickel alloy is particularly resistant to hydrochloric and
hydrofluoric acids when they are de-aerated. As would be expected
from its high copper content, alloy 400 is rapidly attacked by
nitric acid and ammonia systems.

Monel alloy is a nickel-cuprum alloy with Excellent physical characteristics of high strength, high corrosion resistance and wear resistance. In a variety of acid and alkali medium, it has the advantage of long service life, so it is widely used in petrochemical, nuclear industry, national defense industry and other cutting-edge industries, as an important part and other industries with high strength, high corrosion resistance and high wear resistance.

Monel alloy has excellent corrosion resistance to reducing media, and has good stability in hydrofluoric acid, alkali, seawater, H2S, H2SO4, H3PO4, organic acid and many other corrosive media, especially in hydrofluoric acid and alkali solutions, less stable than platinum and silver. The alloy has a certain SCC sensitivity and the working temperature is less than 200℃.

Monel 400 copper-nickel alloy has high strength over wide temperature ranges (up to 1000F). Monel 400 springs can be used in corrosive applications up to 450F. The alloy performs well in high concentrations of salt water. Corrosion rates in surging seawater do not exceed 1 mpy. The most common specification for Monel 400 is ASTM B 164.
